Ecuador Manta,Anathallo,DB Bryant,Pat McCurdy,Cowboy Troy,Big and Rich

Current mood: happy

OK...sorry about not posting yesterday...but yesterday was a our Summerfest day. We went to see Big and Rich, and ...

IT WAS AWESOME!!!!! Well except for a few a**holes (who will be pictured here when Summerfest is over). We also saw a couple of other bands which were really really good.

There were these guys who played "street level" (which mean they didn't play on one of the main stages, and sometimes you find the coolest music there) called Ecuador Manta (again pictures will be here after Summerfest is over) which had you groovin, without you even realizing it. They were the only group that we saw that had the audience dancing, and some of them even went and started dancing in front of the crowd. Even the little guys and gals were getting into it. Season looked at me, with that 'do you want to?' look. I looked back with that "ARE YOU FRIKKEN CRAZY!!!' look, and she laughed at me. A truly cool S-fest moment.

Next was Anathallo. Who I did not know had a Myspace page but they do (Anathallo on Myspace). They did play at one of the main stagees. The U.S. Cellular Connection Stage with Leinenkugel's and FM 102/1 stage to be precise. AMAZING!!! The musicianship was stellar. One of the very cool things was the "musical chair" moments, when they kept going changing instruments and mics. Very very fluid transitions. We were disappointed that we didn't find any of their cd's for sale. If you get a chance check them out. You won't be dissapointed. Breathing originality, Anathallo mixes horns, unique percussion, and heartfelt lyrics into songs that could practicaly be considered epic. That actually says it best.

Next at the Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard Featuring The Rock 'N Roll Hall Of Fame With Miller High Life stage (where we finished out the evening) was A really cool band that does a good job melding rock, country and blues called D.B. Bryant and you can find them at Myspace. Sadly we only caught the last 20 minutes or so because we were getting some food and taking potty breaks. But what we did hear was very good.

Pat McCurdy is a Summerfest staple. His simple set (him and a few guitars) along with a few prerecorded music (for his "Rockin Dance Parties") is all he needs to make it fun and memorable. I have seen Pat on 5 different occasions and every show has been more fun than the prvious show. But this time he played short set because The Big and Rich show was being filmed for CMT, so they needed some time for the "tv spots." Which is too bad because Pat plays an excellent and very entertaining show. You can find Pat here (his website) and here (his Myspace page)

Lastly, there were the headliners of the evening. Muzik Mafia was in the house. The show started with Cowboy Troy (Muzik Mafia Member Since 2001). Now if you want to get a show started and a crowd rowdy, all you need is a Hick-Hop master to get the job done. After a short set, the Big and Rich, (Muzik Mafia Founding Members, 2000) came out to an amazing roar of the crowd. They played a very solid set including old hits and new songs which are garuanteed to be hits. They were as entertaining as TV allowed them to be (John Rich made a comment about being as wild as they can be while taping for TV). So I would defineatly go see them again in an "uncensored" forum. Some of my personal highlights would be the very sincere request to "love Everybody" by Big Kenny which they than followed up with Holy Water (which happens to be my favorite song). And John Rich stating that the song 8th of November was probably the most important song they have written and probably would ever write. Which they played and honestly, this song has so much more impact when you hear them perform it live. The last song they played was of course their first big hit, Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy, with a special visit from Muzik Mafia Member since 2004, Two Foot Fred who very emphatically announced that we should "LOVE EVERYBODY!!!!!!!" And who am I to argue with that?

After that Season and I had to leave so I really hope we didn't miss anything, but even if we did, what we did catch was truly AWESOME!! So That was Sunday.

Were going to try to hit Summerfest on the 4th. But we will most assuredley be there on the 8th. I'm am so NOT, NO WAY IN HELL missing Alpha Rev. Ok See you all soon.
